IMO; that is very good news; especially with so many devices being connected via USB. :ugeek:

Just don't get too excited, it's been developed for quite some time now, AFAIK only one developer is working on USB, and it's a complicated job. It will be done, but don't expect it to be too soon.

Indeed more...dont expect it for 0.3.12 release :)
Maybe after 0.4 ;)
Mjmartin said that at least it will take a year for a basic USB.

I threw a year out as the time it would take as I had no idea how much time
I could devote to USB and was just starting to look over the USB specifications
which I had no prior knowledge of. Also I wanted the drivers to be 100%
compatible with ms USB stack.
I may not stick with that 100% as it's time consuming.
It may not take so long. Though I can promise nothing. ;)

Whenever any developer suggests a timeline, do not take it seriously. More often than not it's an arbitrary date they are throwing out. Do not use them for guidance for when to expect anything. The closest thing to actual timelines are ones the project as a whole puts out, and even those can be just as quickly discarded. Seriously, don't set yourselves up for disappointment by pinning your hopes on a random date.

Sure.
I just wanted to point that we wont have for sure any kind of USB support for 0.3.12 since the title of the thread was mixing both concepts.
The "at least one year" was of course just used to say that we are not near to have something accomplished soon. Not as a fixed timeline. :)

I think it is good that some one is working on it. It would be neat if it was part of 0.3.12 but I can wait for 0.3.13 or 0.3.14. :D

Might it be considered to speed up development here, e.g. kindly requesting someone to help MJMartin? I mean, you plan NOT having USB for another one or two years or what? - I actually might imagine that USB is one of the main things an OS nowadays must support - due to the simple lack of alternatives for Joe User. Of course, you may wish to wait until USB3 and see whether that will bring any new difficulties which you could circumvent already from the onset. However, at least in my humble opinion, USB is one of the things that are actually NEEDED by Joe User; he will rather forgive you some instability and incompatibility in the programs... but "no USB" is not quite the most impressive advertisement.

Uuuh.... this was built in main tree for ages already. cmake branch does one thing, replacing our baaaaad build system with a waay better one. No code changes at all except some stuff for cmake.
ReactOS is still in alpha stage, meaning it is not feature-complete and is recommended only for evaluation and testing purposes.

If my post/reply offends or insults you, be sure that you know what sarcasm is...
