Resurrecting this topic.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/doubleagent/

This thing should eventually be included in the ReactOS codebase, because of two simple reasons:

1. It will allow applications which require Microsoft Agent API to work in ROS.
2. It will allow to implement search feature with "standard" Windows XP look (welcome back, animated characters).

We do not have a mascot usable as a search assistant like Merlin, wait, RMS will be a good substitute.
-uses Ubuntu+GNOME 3 GNU/Linux
-likes Free (as in freedom) and Open Source Detergents
-favors open source of Windows 10 under GPL2

Well, some of the devs forbid me to tell about him, but I think it is not forbidden to point to an old forum topic  viewtopic.php?f=2&t=6682&p=56814#p56814

It's.... UGLY ^^ I hated it in the past and I even more hate it now ^^ Aren't there any Agents of use for us with a good license? Otherwise someone has to make one ^^
ReactOS is still in alpha stage, meaning it is not feature-complete and is recommended only for evaluation and testing purposes.

But will it work without Microsoft's Agent? See image.

I actually hate the things! You can keep your paperclips, dogs and Merlins.
Please keep the Windows classic (9x/2000) look and feel.

Double Agent is an Open Source alternative to Microsoft™ Agent that allows Agent applications to work on Windows 7.

It emulates the Microsoft™ Agent server and the Microsoft™ Agent ActiveX control.
It supports existing Microsoft™ Agent version 2.0 characters, including Microsoft™ Office Assistant characters.
It implements the Agent Server and Agent ActiveX Control programming interfaces, so it can be used with no changes to existing applications.
For development and testing purposes, it also runs on Windows® XP and Windows® Vista.
It's available in both 32–bit and 64–bit versions.

Looks interesting, and it seems to still be developed.

Is this your final opinion? ;)

I liked Max, but there are many more.

No, you have not changed my opinion, I still hate the things. They are so annoying!

So it looks like Double Agent can run without Micrsoft's Agent, seeing that there are so many other none MS things!!!
Please keep the Windows classic (9x/2000) look and feel.

come on oldman, don't you miss those days where BonziBuddy would tell you jokes and give you amazing deals? He did so much for you, are you willing to honestly say he doesn't deserve to come back? Maybe you need to be reminded of how awesome he is.
