Is arwinss actually in the truck builds now?

Post by oldman »

Is arwinss actually in the truck builds now?
Because I downloaded rev 45183 yesterday and I do not see any difference from a revision from last week.
I am looking forward to testing some apps in a build with arwinss in.

To test Arwinss, you have to follow our Wiki instructions. But that means to compile it(having RosBE installed). Currently Arwinss is not in trunk,so any ISO you can download is not Arwinss-ed.
And it´s not planned to be included soon, until it shows its potential beneficts. There are a couple of bugs to solve first.

Here are arwinss modules, given by gabrielilardi. Use with revisions before 45000.

I think that arwinss should be included in trunk.

I have synced up arwinss branch to 44999, so that you can build it "makex bootcd" and have arwinss iso built up right away,

Sorry, I need more instructions.
Where do I go and is it built on the reactos server.
I have very little experience in compiling.

Thanks for all the help.

Here you have the latest iso for Arwinss.

Bear in mind that this is just to fulfill the general curiosity, Arwinss is not ready yet for real use, what you see is what you get. So please avoid filing bug reports, etc.

Thanks for the ISO! I get "CMP_WaitNoPendingInstallEvents() failed! Rebooting now..." during the "installing devices" phase though, so i guess i'll wait a bit before it gets more stable. I did try that on real hardware though! ;)

You need to give us information on your emulator and its settings, it works fine for me in virtual box with USB disabled.

The same version preinstalled in QEMU:
http://2g0.ru/files/ROS_45199_ARWINSS.7z

Boots as usual. There are some [re]drawing issues, shutdown only works from the command line (shutdown -r), but finnaly applications loads and runs quite well.

UPD: Avoid minimizing applications! You may expirience problems maximizing them back again.

I said i was using real hardware ;) It boots okay on QEMU. I checked to see if Blender ran on it and it gives "memory could not be "read" " errors instead of freezing, however WINE gives the same thing sometimes, so it might be a step in the right direction.

Thank you very much gabrielilardi for the iso, I will be testing it on real hardware, so I hope that I don't run into the same problems as Pesho.

Gabrielilardi, you are awesome for putting up an ISO of Arwinss. However, I'm getting the same error message as Pesho. After the initial installation, ReactOS restarts and says "Installing devices"> Then I get a miscolored message box stating "CMP_WaitNoPendingInstallEvents() failed! Rebooting now."

I'm using VirtualBox. Disabling or enabling USB seems to do nothing for me. HyperTerminal tells me this:

Sorry, it is a lot, but maybe that helps.

Running the virtual QEMU machine unxed packaged together works better (thus, you too are awesome, unxed), even though it's still really buggy. Some of the older bugs seem to be fixed by Arwinss already, but some new weird ones are here. It seems kind of laggy right now, but I think it's QEMU since that always seemed laggy, especially now that I'm spoiled by VirtualBox. It would be cool if I knew how to get Arwinss working on VirtualBox, so I could do more detailed testing. I'm confident that the devs can fix Arwinss, but now I can see why they're not shipping it yet.

Hmm, I would suggest: reset the VM and try again if it still doesn't go on, reinstall, whenever it hangs first thing to do is re-try the same step by resetting the vm...

My experiences are:
A fresh install (formatted drive) will produce the same results as in Pesho's first post.
Upgrading to an already install version is the same as in Sun's virtual machine. The desktop is only partially displayed, but I was just able to try K-Meleon to see if the file, view, etc, menus at the top worked and they do; no more frozen programme (see bug 4779).
