Additional Features

Here's a topic for suggestions for additional features Windows doesn't have but really should, so might be useful to be implemented in ReactOS.
I'm not saying any of these will ever be implemented, but it would be nice if they were.
Although a lot of these probably can't be implemented until ReactOS is out of alpha.
Three I'd like are:
[*]Proportional resizing of windows when Ctrl/Shift is held down like in a graphics program
[*]Midi loopback - a big gap in Windows that always has to be filled by third party apps, but having it built in would make things a lot easier.
[*]Command Line SSH client

Andrew I'm sorry to say, but unless you add those features yourself and submit it to the trunk you most likely wont see them until we are at least as v1.1 or v1.2 so in other words a decade or so.

So my advice is to try and add the features yourself, as the focus right now is on matching windows first and then improving over its abilities.

The last one isn't that difficult, merely include an open source commandline SSH client. PuTTY includes a tool called plink that does exactly what you ask. That could probably be included in ReactOS.

The first would probably have to be implemented while explorer_new is being worked on. I doubt it though, I don't think that explorer_new will even support virtual desktops, like the current explorer does.

The second one... That's a hard one. That would first require the MIDI engine in ReactOS to be done, which requires the audio engine to be done too. This might get implemented anyway so that ReactOS developers don't have to implement a MIDI softsynth like Windows does, and so users can download one and plug it in. Or what might happen is fluidsynth 1.0.9 would be used as the basis for the MIDI softsynth driver and we won't have loopback just yet.

Find somebody interested in making an open source MIDI loopback driver for Windows, and then it could probably be imported into ReactOS.

Well I actually said that in my post.
This is just a list of things in the hope some will implement them.
I will try as well, of course.
I doubt ReactOS 1.1 will be in a decade though.
