Need some piece of advice

Post by PetruDimitriu » Tue Jul 07, 2009 12:47 pm

This is the 1701st topic on this forum. Yet another topic about translation.

Can someone tell me which formatting should I use when I'm translating using Unicode characters? The compiler won't compile UTF-8 files and also I can't save the files as ANSI... I am desperate...

Use UTF-8. See this example. Notice #pragma code_page(65001) at the beginning and #pragma code_page(default) at the end. Either do not use Windows Notepad, as it likes to insert byte-order marks into files, or remove these characters after editing. There were some compilation problems with such files.

Then which text editor you would recommend me to use?

Textpad and Notepad++ are nice.

Edit: yes, I meant Notepad++.

Could you mean Notepad++ since Notepad was the one mentioned with the issue?(I don't know if notepad++ has the issue or not, but since I think they have an option to convert text between formats it seems likely not to have the issue)

hto, I add these pragma's in the file but Notepad still asks me to convert the file to another encoding.

I do not understand. You should save the file in UTF-8 encoding.

If I do, the compiler gives error.

I`d recomment a windows version of scite. Great code editor as well (intendation, syntax highlighting).

Scite is the base of Notepad++
