1. Currently, ReactOS is in alpha stage. It implements less than half of Windows NT, and is very unstable. Not recommended for general use yet.
2. You can download it and find out (installing in a virtual machine is probably easiest). :)
3. Same as Windows -> double-click the EXE (and hope it works).

1 most programs will do something, almost none will work properly (it is alpha after all)
2 not likely, feal free to try. I think Reactos probably won't run openGL well enough and probably won't run networking well enough. their is also no sound working yet.
I suspect you mean because the downloaded file is not an exe file. I would suggest you download from the "Preloaded on a VMware virtual machine" link. also download VMware server. VMware can open the virtual machine downloaded from this site and will run it as a virtual computer.
alternately you could use the install CD or live CD, both will give you an ISO file, search for info on "burning an ISO" and you should find plenty of info (goggle or even this forum)

bad luck, you should have read some more info about reactos before installing it on real hardware on your main computer. a pitty nobody pointed that out before. but if you´d have read just a little in this forum youd´ have found out yourself. since reactos is alpha it has some major issues like it requires to install on first partition on first hd and it´s setup ignores other oses installed.
hope you did not mess up too much data...

nice greets SpOOnmAn

@blackcrack

somehow i mostly dislike the way you behave on this forum, also in the german section u often glance with unqualified comments and behavour like a scriptkiddie...
please dont take this personal, just wanted you to know, because maybe just nobody told you before, so u´d maybe learn from this.

forgot to say that tose acronymes are nice for achat with a friend or something, but in a forum the posting guidelines should tell the users not to use them for keeping the readability also for those who dont understand these cryptic char´s...

I'm not quite shure what your getting at there? I were stating VMware not becaue it is my preference but because there are pre-setup images for it, I may well look into virtualbox (did it used to be comerecial/pay only or something, I thought there was a reason I didn't try it before, mayby I am just happy with VMware). virtualbox looks OK from the screenshots but being opensource (especialy cross platform open source) almost always (not always, just almost) means it is not high quality.

i thought the rolf was completly appropriate, but what about the original author, mike, were you offended?
