Extracting Iso image for live cd requires a password

Post by BIGMKENT » Wed Apr 02, 2008 5:37 pm

I was attempting to extract image use file zip and it stated that the image was protected by a password. This was before I created an account with myReactOS. Is there something else I should have done?

I used Winzip. Is 7-zip needed for the image instead?

The trunk builds aren't zip files. Use either WinRAR or 7-zip.

I don't suggest you burn the files manually though, extracting the ISO makes it lose the MBR Data (Since the MBR can't be extracted as a file. If there was any MBR Data to begin with.) If you don't like the free ISO Burners Micro$h1t offers, use this one instead:

Doesn't even have a nasty trial that the others do.

Or if you live in the twenty-first century and haven't been living under a rock for the past 2 or 3 years, use the best CD burning software known to man - ImgBurn! :)

20 minutes ago I extracted the boot sector in a liveCD ISO (livecd-32894-rel.iso)... so I am unclear about what this means?

There is no MBR data in raw format in our ISO files. In fact, those are normal bootable ISO images.

MBR is being written onto HDD by Freeldr, at the end of 1st stage of installation.
