many keyboard shortcuts aren't implemented?

Post by user222 »

How come a lot the Windows keyboard shortcuts don't work in ReactOS?

here are the ones that don't work:
[ALT-SPACE]; should bring up the window operations menu
[ALT-HYPHEN]; should bring up the window operations menu of the current MDI window
[ALT]; should switch focus to the menu
[BACKSPACE] (in the open/save dialog); should move to the parent folder
[CTRL-C] (in the command prompt); should abort the current operation
[ALT-TAB]&[ALT-SHIFT-TAB]; should bring up the task switcher
[WIN]&[CTRL-ESC]; should bring up the start menu
[CTRL-TAB]&[CTRL-SHIFT-TAB]; should switch between tabs in dialogs

here's one more keyboard shortcut that doesn't work
[CTRL-ALT-DEL]; should bring up the task manager

It would also be good idea if those keys could be customized.

CTRL+ALT+DEL should bring up the security center. CTRL+SHIFT+ESC is the correct shortcut for the task manager.

Honestely, I don't see any real demand or need for such. Those are regular rules which have stabilized themselves over given amount of time. While it is a good idea to give user the control over the system it's seldom a good thing to give them more control that they really need.

Maybe it's not that good of an idea. If they were customizable, a malicious program or script could disable or modify those keyboard shortcuts, which is bad.
