Reference Platform for Testing

Post by nat32support » Mon Feb 18, 2008 6:13 am

I would like to suggest that the developers choose a Reference Platform and that each release be tested for functionality on that platform (even if special hacks are required to ensure that functionality).

The choice of particular board will almost certainly be controversial, but I would suggest a small, cheap integrated board such as something in the VIA range.

That would have the following advantages:

1. Graphics Hardware would always work.
2. Network Hardware would always work.
3. Keyboard/Mouse issues as seen in release 0.3.4 would not arise.

Interested testers could then focus on application compatibility issues.

I hereby volunteer to supply the developers with such a board, given that we can agree on exactly which board it should be and that hardware compatibility of each release is guaranteed.

Chris.

Hi!
I use MSI Mainboard, KM4M-L, ReactOS installs and boots. I use it as a test box. VIA chipset etc etc etc.

Thanks,
James
