symbolic links

Post by user222 » Sun Mar 06, 2005 7:08 am

As you can see, the Windows ".lnk" file is a format interpreted by the Windows shell (SHELL32.DLL). If the application doesn't access file through the Windows shell, it wouldn't be able to use the ".lnk" file. Unlike the Linux/UNIX "SymLinks" any application can access it. Of course the "Symbolic Links" would be supported if ReactOS supports EXT2/EXT3.

In Windows land they're called "Junctions", and NTFS also supports them. You can create them with sysinternals.com junction.

It could be a good idea to make junctions otions available on shell. Like File -> Junction to, or something else with right click. Also, on file/folder propierties that would be good to see junction points of files or folders.

Maybe it is not important, but I would like to see that
