Hi everybost,
is it possible to install ReactOS on an existing NTFS partition? Even withou tthe security tab's, rights,...is this possible?
On which file systems can ReactOS be installed?

No. ROS can only be installed on FAT32.

We can support more than FAT32. ATM the device drivers are offline untill cache support is finished. Ext2 will be supported as well.

so are the ext2 and NTFS divers written and working themselves just not usable because of the cache? I didn't realize they were that close.

Freeldr actually supports a lot more than FAT32. However, that doesn't mean ROS is ready or has the code to support others. There was work done on ext2, but I do not believe we have anything for NTFS.

I was under the impression that once ReactOS's cache manager got fixed (been some time working on THAT one!) that it could then use a MS NTFS.SYS and friends to support NTFS volumes. Otherwise it would only work with the EXT2 driver.

I was also under the impression that EXT2/3 volumes needed some coaxing in order to properly support NT flavor ACLs and extended attribute data?

Wasn't the concensus that we could use some kind of metadata for this purpose?

Still, A LOT of things will become reachable once the cache manager is correct. Not the least of which is potential for other IFS drivers.

I think it was before kernel has been rewritten and improved by kernel dev team, and that CM was bit hack`ish, but i may be mistaken.

we have a NTFS driver that can read ntfs, But I do not known how well it works.

Now that we're talking about NTFS... Is the NTFS-3g project useful for ReactOS?
