ReactOS AD **** NOW NEW ReactOS Ad! ****

Post by andrewweb »

I have made a youtube ad for reactos, to help get more people interested.
(note: I think the new ad is much better than the old one!!!)
The music is by ElectricGuitarClock. There is a link in the youtube description.

I class it as too early for advertisement in a large way. Ok that is my option.

Markets of target in expected order.
Embedded. Reason they have more controlled hardware.
Virtual Machine. Users for product demonstrations and the like.
Then home and server users.

You ad is missing the target. From my point of view.

I like the music and the most of the graphics. The part where they show the monitor is shaky but the rest is very good. 8)

The bit with my monitor was on real hardware, yes!(although it doesn't work too well).

Well, I see what you meen. Although I only made the ad to get more people interested(and potentially more developers, if any see the ad)/

I am going to do as much as I can that does not require spending any money to help promote ReactOS(well, a little bit anyway).

Its trying to work out how to advertise to. Embedded and Virtual Machines for program demonstrations.

Linux went after Servers and Embedded first because that is where the coders were.

First advertising has to be after getting coders. There are rich pools of them.

For the vm market. Something like.
You have a product. Wish to show it off in a Virtual Machine.
It a Windows Program. Reactos is for you.

Of course that needs work. I guess you can get the general idea. Now this gets more testers and coders. Since they will want to fix Reactos to show off there product. Best bit is they could be paid to do it. Linux did a similar thing early on with livecds.

I am coping the one that has worked method. Hunt coders not users.

It took 30 seconds before anything "interesting" started which I thought was a bit slow. Also the camera was a bit shaky when filming the ReactOS in ReactOS (perhaps use fraps?). But after that it was very clear, interesting and nice to watch, so overall: I like it!

It's nice, but i think the ReactOS logo at the start of video and at the end must be on the black, not white. I think, the logo would look better with black background.

- the opening takes too much time, compared with the rest;
- the tempo is too fast;
- resolution is terrible, you cannot see clearly what is going on screen
- but the worst thing is lack of clarity... if i would be someone not involved in ReactOS, i wouldn`t know what this promo does present.

You should plan first then work accordingly to it. Now its a complete chaos.

I think this promo accurately represents how unfinished and unmarketable ReactOS is in its current state :lol:
It compiles, let's ship it!
