File Downloader for ReactOS SVN

Post by aicommander »

Could someone write a simple application to download a file? We need something that will simply download a url. That way we don't have to keep copying download.exe and download.xml to the SVN version to get applications.

This is why vdk is included in the RosTE. It's a utility that allows you to open and close virtual disks and put stuff in them.

If you're talking about win-get, it's written in pascal, which automatically disqualifies it.

tested wget on ReactOS and some of the ROS bugs make wget unusable. We could commit it to our source but for now it's mostly unusable.

Project page: http://sourceforge.net/projects/aria2

I think if such a program has to be inclued in ReactOS it should be as simple as possible. Wget would be the best candidate IMHO.

My point still stands. You already have a tool to use to get more stuff. And as I said earlier, you can always fall back to vdk.

That is the reason I started this post was because it was a pain to open the volume and put the files in. And another thing, you said yourself that we are not going to put a browser in the new shell. For SVN testing I think it would be in our best interest to add a file downloader whether it be wget or aria2 or a new one that one of the developers write.
