The browser isn't part of it. There won't be an internet browser within explorer, we will rely on Firefox or similar
wait so will firefox be preinstalled? that would be cool!

On Knoppix 5.2 (linux), it has this preinstalled browser it looks has features from firefox, but the icons and stuff r different! when u click on add-ons in the tools it goes to the firefox addons website! howabout doin somethin like that for reactos but only if its legal!

This is Iceweasel and its based on Firefox. It is legal because u can use Firefox source by the therms of GPL.

webbrowser

Posts to this topic are all over the place. It's about a web browser.
People are confusing internet explorer with the explorer shell!
I think reactos should come with NO browser by default, but allow you to choose your favorite ....firefox opera kameleon or whatever using DOWNLOAD!
Which is an application similar to synaptic on linux but does not have a central repository.

Yeah... usual approach. Someone take source and do it...

1. There are loads of browsers, why do we want one more?
2. Not everyone needs a browser, why should we bundle it into ReactOS?
3. Who is going to do it? ROS devs? You?

I know I'm not one to say about these things, but, isn't the purpose of reactos to build a 'clone' of Windows? Some applications rely on the fact that explorer is used as a browser, isn't it essential to have it integrated, as windows does?
Furthermore, how is one supposed to download a browser, without a browser? It's like arj-ing the arj packing software binaries :)
Of course, ftp or some packet manager integrated into the installation or the software itself, any thoughts on what would we the best solution.

I don't mean to claim to be wiser then the devs, just asking this to clarify.

All we need is to make sure the DLLs associated with IE are present. Not actually having IE isn't a major issue.

1. Disconnect router;
2. Connect PC directly to cable/dsl
3. Download a browser you want
4. Reconnect router
5. Install browser
6. Configure router

Most of moder routers have automatic configuration scripts/apps and do not require any user action for basic connectivity.
