Free win32 Software Distribution Project

Post by Marti »

hi everyone!

i recently had the idea of this:

we could take a little real good free software for windows, and modify them that they better work together and give them a standarized look and feel.

the whole thing is called "Free win32 Software Distribution Project" or just "FreeWSD"

than we only need a package manager that updates the system and get optimized builds.

it schuld be installable on Windows and later also on ROS

so ROS also would become more popular

i mean today i use a quarter of my time for seeking updates, and eyery time i reinstall Windows, i must install this, and this, and this. short: it sucks. :x

here is the actual homepage: http://reactos.com/wiki/index.php/Free_ ... on_Project

what do you think?
this seems to be some weird singnature

-> Free "Ros32" Software Distribution Project

Please use the search function (in RosWiki). There is already such a list!

On the other hand, it's nice to see ppl making use of the hierarchical capabilites of MediaWiki!

BTW, when you mean "native" widgets, what do you mean? Shareaza I know uses skinning, so I'm a bit confused as to what exactly you mean.

Thanx

what I want...something that can automatically go and download Nightly builds of things like Firefox, VLC, and install with absolutely no input from me.

...yes I prolli could do it in a batch file but im lazy...

I vote to get a Bit torrent client we can use as a service and use that to download software....just an idea

When we get to the point of having a OS updater, they may be a good idea, especially if they (he) can get around the firewall problem.

TheOpenCD

Anyway, i think we need the collaboration of REACTOS.NET.TC (Klemens Friedl).

Here are a site with many and only freeware programs. Maybe worth taking a look...

http://www.myfreeprograms.com

I guess many of these programs will work with ReactOS, as the OS evolvs.
