The smallest ReactOS computer so far.

Post by Jaix »

I have just bought a OQO 01+ and I just had to try ReactOS on it. I just say Yummie! It is a good alternative to the OLPC

Now we only need some stability, compatibility and TabletPC extentions. :D

Well, the price depends on the features, I choosed the model 01+ TabletPC edition, but there are versions that are cheaper then that, but I think they are reasonable cheap now when model 02 is released.

Read about here:
http://www.expansys.com
and about model 02 here:

How ROS was installed?

Post by tomleem »

Can you explain how ROS was installed onto it? It was cool that you got ROS to work on it. 8)

well based on what I saw on the model 2 promo video, you (can) get a docking station with it, with a builtin cd/dvdrom drive and some extra ports (right?). So I imagine he installed ROS from the disc in the dock.

install via dock

Post by tomleem »

It would make sense that the dock would be used to install ROS. The OQO does not have a built in cd drive (no room). Perhaps any operating system that one can load via a cdrom connected to the dock could be installed onto it. It is neat to see ROS installed onto it. 8)

Docking Station with Optical Drive

If one could use it to install another os, the $299 price would be worth the extra money(?).

" docking station with optical drive

Portable docking station with integrated optical drive (CD±RW/DVD-ROM), and multiple ports (HDMI, VGA, Ethernet, 3 USB 2.0, audio, and power connector). Includes HDMI-DVI adapter. Use with model 02 computer power supply or airplane/car adapter. " $299

"docking station with dual layer optical drive

Portable docking station with integrated dual layer optical drive (DVD±RW/RAM), and multiple ports (HDMI, VGA, Ethernet, 3 USB 2.0, audio, and power connector). Includes HDMI-DVI adapter. Use with model 02 computer power supply or airplane/car adapter. " $399

Plus it looks kinda neat in the stand. 8)

Installing OSes on OQO

Post by Jaix »

Yes, it is pretty easy to install new OSes to the OQO, any bootable USB drive boots on it, I have even tested to run ReactOS from the USB, but that didn't work because lack of USB support in ROS. Linux however worked on my USB stick (it broke after some ROS tries). When USB is supported we will probably have support for installation to bootable USB devices like USB thumb drives.

USB CD Support(?)

Post by tomleem »

I know of another operating system - eComStation http://www.ecomstation.com - that has USB cd drive support. If the price ever came down, it would be neat to not only try ReactOS but also eComStation on it; dual boot(?). 8)

Sony VAIO® UX280P Micro PC and ReactOS?

I guess one could use a usb cd drive to install ROS onto it(?).
"Other Interfaces 1 USB 2.0 port, port replicator connector, DC-in (1)" (from the specs page).

:?:  8)
