I assume its because you 1) need a company or foundation to register it too (does ReactOS have one ?) 2) it costs money and 3) to hold a trademark, you must be willing to defend it, ala Firefox and Debian.

At the bottom of this page it says:
ReactOS is a trademark of ReactOS Foundation in the United States and other countries.
yet there is no record of a ReactOS trademark registration at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, so I was wondering what's going on.

I think ReactOS was registered as a trademark in one state...
