Yesterday while reading one of GvG posts about Reactos optimization, I realized that contrary to let's say Windows XP, it was possible to have a ReactOS version optimized with SSE(1,2,3,4,...)/3Dnow instruction. Kind of what has been done by a guy with Firefox builds.
I'm not knowledgable at all in this area but I think it would surely improve a few things. Maybe I'm mistaken and Windows XP is already using full SSE/3Dnow instruction when possible, maybe not. In that case maybe having better performance than Windows XP on last hardware would be easier than I thought.
For Reactos, would this be hard to do such versions or is this only a matter of compiler options ? What gain of performance could we expect on supported hardware ?
