Ease of update

Post by Blink123123 »

I was just wondering since ReactOS is made to support windows 2000 / xp, once that goal is reached, would the ReactOS project be able to move forward to a windows 7 based system faster? (since all the basic support for USB, boot and so on are complete)
Or would supporting windows 7 require the same amount of work?

I'm just asking out of curiosity because I believe that once ReactOS supports newer versions, it might get more support from people.

First - ReactOS is targeting Windows XP/Windows Server 2003, not Windows 2000.

But the short answer to your questions is yes; once the base is stable, extending it to be compatible with other versions of Windows will be much quicker. In fact, some of those newer API calls are already implemented.
