Here are 3 XP compatible Firewalls from oldapps.com. Untested by me, so it is up to you to test.

Please keep the Windows classic 9x/2000 look and feel.
The layman's guides - debugging - bug reporting - compiling - ISO remaster.
They may help you with a problem, so do have a look at them.

That site is severely outdated, by the way.

After some more research, it looks like the latest versions of Comodo firewall might still work on WinXP. On of their latest patch notes says this: "Defect where cmdagent.exe unexpectedly terminates after install CIS with Secure Shopping on XP." So I assume that it can still work on WinXP, but I do not know if it can work now on ReactOS. If that is the case, their anti-virus/internet security might also work on WinXP as well. I know their security products were all made with the same engine. They all have free versions, too.

Just buy a decent router with a good firewall.

Then install Sygate SPF. Try it. It might work.

If it works, do this: https://www.securityfocus.com/bid/6684/solution

Then avoid the internet.

For comparison, when using my XP system I typically run with a wireless-only network with wireless always switched OFF unless I am specifically downloading something onto that XP system. Then it is virustotal to scan and a bit of brainwork to be sure I am safe. Sygate SPF and the router hold the line against attack whilst I am networked. Immediately the task is complete, the network is switched off.

I sometimes game on this machine with my family, Quake variations, Total war and Colonial conquest. The internet is disabled on the specific router we use to extend the internet to a particular room and we are safe to play.

Basically if you are running ReactOS, (and you shouldn't be) then treat it and all apps as being unsupported and use your best judgement as to what to do, just the same as if you were running XP (and you shouldn't be) .

Testing a firewall on ReactOS at this stage should just be to see if it works certainly not to see if it protects you during real usage with ROS as your OS. IF you are doing the latter then the advice about engaging the brain is the real advice you need at this point.

Let's get back on topic.

A discussion of firewall software suitable to try with ReactOS deserves a topic of its own.

That's exactly what we been doing?

Anyways, a hardware firewall is good, but I wouldn't use it as a only firewall. First of all, hardware firewalls were designed to work with a software firewall. Also, a software firewall you have more control, like specifying which user you want block where in a firewall you can only block whole devices. Also, if your router firewall bugs out, then the whole network is compromised, not just your PC. Hardware firewalls are still good though, don't get me wrong. I would just recommend to use it with a software on and not just by itself.

Like I said, try Comodo firewall because I think it's probably the only one that still works that is free for WinXP.
