Lession if you dont know what your doing then dont do it.

I only did it to prove it could be done.

Im not wasting time spoonfeeding it to people, you dont need to use IE,
A) Illegial
B) Its was a proof of concept
C) MS is flawed - and highly targeted

If you realy need a browser use FireFox

Violation of their license agreement does not make it illegal.

Sucks to be sued, but unless you obtained the copy illegally then they have no grounds for a lawsuit.

The EULA is not an extention of "Copyright" law... This would be if you were claiming ownership or reproduction rights to some registered trademark or software item that they hold the copyright for.

Simply installing onto a competator's OS is not grounds for a copyright infringment case, as far as I know. (But, IANAL) License violation, yes-- Copyright violation? No--- As far as I know, you were not purporting that you represented MS, that you had the authority to issue legal copies, nor that you had used your copy of the beta in more than one machine (Thus violating MS's limited reproduction license for their copyrighted material)...

If they have indeed issued a new stipulation on their EULA, stating that you may only use their software on "Thier" operating system, I personally would consider that to be anti-competative behavior.... Where are those Antitrust people when you need them?!

Still, a nasty letter from one of the richest (Read-- powerful) corporations on the planet is not something to snicker about...

It will be with problem if and only if IE7 is come with ROS. In all other case, MS will have no right to sue on ROS. MS is only have right to sue individual user as the illegal issue is that each individual user breaks the EULA.

Could they argue that IE is a part of windows, and can not be installed on a seperate operating system without their approval?

oh wait, WINE. No, no it makes no sense.

Definitly not. Developer here cannot control the user to do something illegal on ROS, right? It is only respond of MS to make their software cannot run on ROS since it is a bug on version checking which allows it to be installed on ROS. :P

Besides, I have another interest question. If DX redistribute is used under the distribution via a legal source, e.g., some games, for the installation of DX on ROS, it probably will not bring any legal issue in the same way.

That was exactly what i was thinking, problem is it wont work nativly.
You have no idea how much needs to be added to get DX working

I only have 62% of the directX implamations actuly functioning correctly.
So i still have alot to do

Microsoft is a bunch of assholes. Just quit everything your violating and stuff. If you do it and leave it to yourself, nobody will know. Yeah, i know, its quite hard to leave an accomplishment like that to yourself... but you can always just hint it. If someone asks, hint it more..... Get what i mean?

Although, its pretty hard to not violate anything when it comes to microsoft. I tried vista, as an msdn subscriber, but i lost my email address and eventually, i figured out i hated my subscription: Nothing there i really liked. I know thats where IE7 originates. Also, looks like MS has f'd up again on it: Microsoft, are you planning to implement PNG 32bit or are you going to talk about it?

Ya im msdn also

Any incase any is wondering Vista is a junk

So many problems, no wonder they delayed it

Explorer is so unstable and there is this stupid program that warns you before you do any thing, Its a pain, and consumes so much memory.

I simply stole some componets for Vista and added them to xp, there is no way im using the core though
