And let's compare in addition to dizt3mp3r's post the history of Windows NT, its kernels and release dates (in brackets):

...
5.0 (2000) = Windows 2000
5.1 (2001) = Windows XP
6.0 (2006) = Windows Vista
6.1 (2009) = Windows 7
6.2 (2012) = Windows 8
6.3 (2013) = Windows 8.1
6.4 (2015) = Windows 10

"The operating system kernel of Windows 10 is further based on NT 6; Early builds reported accordingly as NT 6.4, for example, in the command line; The name of the NT version was later adapted for marketing reasons to the marketing name" ["kernel 10"]. Originally it's written by the German Wikipedia. Translated by Google.

Edited: Sorry. I confused the line of Windows XP's release year with the one of Windows Server 2003.

Windows XP came out in 2001. Windows Server 2003 came out in 2003.

Microsoft Windows XP was released to manufacturing (RTM) on August 24, 2001 according to this Softpedia article. Work on what became Windows XP began in the 1990s. Microsoft is still fixing bugs in Windows XP (for customers paying for extended support).

Similarly, ReactOS has its origins in the 1990s and ReactOS bugs are still being fixed.
Therefore ReactOS and Windows XP are at the same point in their software lifecycles.

Except that XP actually underwent a full release... we have yet to see that with ReactOS - a good try though.

I think if OP proves anything, it is that ReactOS devs are like a few hundred times more efficient than MS devs.

This battle will not be won by having PERFECT compatibility: it will be won by having SUFFICIENT compatibility. That matter is far from settled either way, but so far, ReactOS is doing GREAT.

theuserBl not a troll? Good to see him supporting ReactOS on OSnews:

Shame Haiku can't keep up with the same pace as ReactOS..."

theuserbl said: "For me Haiku is much more advanced:
- Haiku can run on my real hardware on all of my computers. ReactOS runs on none of them.
- Haiku supports sound (I look from time to time videos on Haiku), but ReactOS supports no sound.
- If you navigate through the start menu fast, there is a flickering in the icons of it and sometimes ReactOS draws windows wrong. Thats something I haven't seen for a long time on Haiku."

As I said earlier - userbl is a troll whose hidden agenda is to promote Haiku over ReactOS. When he pretends to be impartial we can take his words with a pinch of salt. Don't tell me he isn't a trolliwoll.

Haiku and ReactOS aren't even comparable, what are these people going on about? They're two entirely different architectures and completely incompatible.

Exactly. We have what we call in English, "a stalking horse" here...
