Small Format Motherboard for React

Post by imk » Wed Jun 22, 2016 6:58 pm

Hello,
I need to get out of the jaws of Microsoft as had another wasted two days sorting W7.
So I download 0.4.1 and it installed, got the enet driver in and the audio driver, chrome and a few test apps like Quark working.
What I couldn't get to install was intel vid hd4000 drivers and for some reason none of the USB ports would install/work.
MB was a GB h61nd2v 4gb ram and i7-3770

So any advice please as to what would be a good motherboard etc for me to test/run/migration platform away for the axis of evil know as MS on to React please.
Small format itx would be great

Many thanks in advance Ian Knight

Systems that were originally designed in the Microsoft Windows XP era to support Microsoft Windows XP work well with ReactOS in its current alpha level of development. Those systems and their motherboards should have hardware drivers that support XP. Be sure newer hardware has drivers that support XP for all its devices. Many motherboards sold to the white-box trade and build-it-yourself hobbyists still make XP type drivers available but there are some makers and motherboard models that never had XP support. Those who experiment with server hardware should substitute "Microsoft Windows Server 2003" for "Microsoft Windows XP" or "XP".

Seek out motherboards with widely used chipsets. Avoid exotic or lesser known hardware.

Prefer motherboards that use a Realtek RTL8139C Ethernet chip, ReactOS already has a driver for that. My testing PC has an Intel Ethernet chip and it does not play well with ReactOS at this time.

Prefer motherboards that have PS/2 connectors for the mouse and keyboard. ReactOS USB support is rudimentary at this time and not available for many USB implementations.

WOW, what a great reply and many thanks.
So ill look around my old kit and build myself a mini itx system so I can keep a monthly build eye on ROS as last time I looked was two years ago and I can see that major effort has been put in since.
