Should we make the JFS as the main file-system for ReactOS?

Fat32 vs. JFS

Post by gnu_rocky »

Guys:

Check this out! This could spell doom for our FAT-32 IFS usage!

We may need to make the switch to the JFS file-system since the FAT-32 file-system may require usage "royalty-fees" to Microsoft. The GNU GPL does not permit paying such fees. It defeats the purpose of free software.

Just FYI, a free filesystem like JFS will be implemented at one point or another.

I altered the thread topic to "Fat32 vs. JFS". Please don't write topics like "important annoucement", thanks.

well, unless the MS patent kills it, FAT/FAT32 would be an essential filesystem to have (even if it's not default), just because so many devices use it.
