Hardware database

Post by fniffi »

Hello,

which hardware is good an which is bad for ReactOS. Sorry for my English, hope, you understand all

for my first Linux-Computer selfbuild I used the best hardware for a Suse Linux 5.4 (long ago *ggg*) , designd for Linux as well

also can it be: designed for ReactOS

now, what are the differences between Linux and ReactOS or what is the base of it (UNIX, OSX, free BSD or others) ?

is there a european or german shop where are ReactOS-LiveCDs are available like as knoppix, mandrake move etc. ?

may be on ebay a good idea too ??
security is a network free os *ggg*

A hardware database is a good idea I think

ReactOS is built up from scratch and not based on linux etc.

Not what I know of, I don't think so. I would not be worth it at this time, since ReactOS is still pretty unstable.

Edit: nevermind, I was only thinking about a place to buy reactos...

I don't know about a German specific site. However, part of the ReactOS build process is building LiveCD's (Along the lines of Knoppix.)

http://reactos.csh-consult.dk/index.php?page=snapshots < that's a link to a website that performs nightly builds of the ReactOS source code. For the LiveCD just download the link that says ReactOS-core-<currentdate>-livecd.i386.tar.gz

Just replace <currentdate> with the date closest to the present day's date.

Hrm. Just noticed. .dk should be a German site...

Yep. American here. Sorry about the .dk thing. You'd think I would know that to be Denmark considering my ancestors came from there...

/sigh Oh well.

Okay, a few things. If you are using ReactOS 0.3.1 release, we still had the AMD bug. 0.3.1 also has a really annoying tendency not to format the disk correctly the first time. Try downloading the latest ISO (bottom of the downloads page.) Welcome to ReactOS, and we don't care about how good/bad the English is here.
More ReactOS, please!

Well, we (italian users) are trying to indipendently "extend" the HW compatibility database by collecting our testing machines configurations (HWiNFO logs) and the relative test results.

In this way we hope to discover what hw is mutch functional for ROS.
