Importing Winefile from latest synchronize Wine version to CORE for 16-bit application compatibility
Actually, WINEFile is actually in ROSAPPS. It's called WinFile but it is indeed WINE File: http://svn.reactos.org/svn/reactos/trun ... s/winfile/
I use ReactOS on real hardware. Will you? My Computers: https://www.reactos.org/wiki/PC_ROS_Rigs Go all the way to the bottom.

It will happen because people have paid money for it to happen!

I like the idea of two parallel versions, the modern looking Community Edition, for the younger user and the Classic look for us that like it that way. I also think that this modern looking Community Edition (see here) will attract a different class of people, which hopefully, would include some new developers.
Please keep the Windows classic (9x/2000) look and feel.

*CLI boot option(https://jira.reactos.org/browse/CORE-7925)-it should be capable of running Win32 CLI applications and DOS applications along with NT native set
-uses Ubuntu+GNOME 3 GNU/Linux
-likes Free (as in freedom) and Open Source Detergents
-favors open source of Windows 10 under GPL2

Seconding this, it's the only thing I really want from ROS that isn't already planned.

There might be room for 3 flavors. Classic and Community have already been mentioned. I'd also like to see a performance flavor. Sure, maybe less compatibility in terms of hardware and software, but let it really shine on the modern stuff and with moderns apps.

There may be room for 15 flavours, but if this list continues like this, you will soon hit the "two flavours per developer" limit. This will never work.

I have only one wish, which encompasses of course a lot of work:

"Work with the common home and office applications."

Not games, not engineering design, but office, browser, media consumption... that category. (Actually, I like to see the compatibility database growing in this direction already.)

That category will be "most profitable" in terms of public interest. You nowadays have microkernel OSes and exokernel nonsense and whatnot, but NOBODY CARES, because you exclusively care about those things that you can use and show off to friends. Public interest gives you developers, and in a longer period, money. Public interest is how Linux "won" against BSD and how Windows "won" against OS/2.

Well, my talk is for the future. Right now, I just want the darn thing to work, on real HW, and be as good as Windows.

WinFile is already here: http://svn.reactos.org/svn/reactos/trun ... s/winfile/

What we need to import from Wine is the PROGMAN.EXE (Program Manager).

This was happening some years (maybe 10yrs) ago, but the Italian dev who's pet project it was, found some Russian doing the same (but not for Ros), and got very upset. He changed the license on his work and stopped all development here at reactos.org. I do not remember his name or what happend to him. Had he have continued, there should now have been POSIX support!
