GSoC 2015

Post by middings » Fri Feb 13, 2015 10:47 pm

ReactOS participation in the Google Summer of Code (GSoC) interests the ReactOS community every year. The GSoC mentor application season has arrived again. I found this link to a GSoC 2015 page in a Ros-Dev forum post. The 2015 mentor application deadline is 20 February.

Google's GSoC project calendar lists two Meetups for interested students: 16 February at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, USA and 18 February at University of Magdeburg, Germany.

This are some Ideas :
- SMB fs driver based on samba TNG (reactos is not ready but it can develop on Win)
- Raw Input API
- ReImplement/finish RosDbg
- Arm / Rpi port
- Midi SF2 softsynthesis
- PostScript/EMF read/write support
- New Explorer Part2

more ideas, more possibility... ;)
also jira is a precious source, don't forget about it ;)

Other project use jira to track the ideas, they have created a specific Type for Gsoc

It would take a USB which at this point does not support multiple devices with USB 3 not to mention, shell system also needs to be continued but let's keep our fingers crossed that the project qualifies.

For USB is probably Johannes Anderwald biggest expert.

You have forgotten this: Memory Manager and Common Cache is waiting! Could them also be finished with the help of students? Or some of Win32SS?

Those are hard issues that even core devs don't always feel like touching. I'd rather an interested student got a smaller bite to work on.

No Reactos Again :(

They accepted Wine... but is a small consolation.

For those who do not read the mailing list.
Dear all,
The ReactOS Foundation application to GSoC has been rejected this year
again. Statistics are not reliable after all.

In any case, keep up the good work. We don't need Google to be the bests
at what we do.

Cheers,
