Re: Blog: The Sisyphussian Bug
I am glad he's making some progress, even if it isn't directly related to the current issues. But I am sure it is building upon the base of knowledge and thus making the intended goals closer.
Re: Blog: The Sisyphussian Bug
Despite not being the progress he's looking for, it's still good work. The more bugs squashed the closer we are and the more we understand.
Re: Blog: The Sisyphussian Bug
Picture of a cat means no progress to show to "layman" public, which made me a little sad when opening the blogpost. But I believe the bugs are in finite amount and sooner or later will David run out of them, resulting in stable and polished implementation.
Re: Blog: The Sisyphussian Bug
The picture of a cat does not mean "no progress". It means that I could take as many screenshots as I want, it still LOOKS the same. The thing about look&feel, is that a single picture can only represent the look, not the feel.
Once I manage to fix all the logic, and the menus work as expected, I'll have to find a means to show you just how "as expected" feels like. ;P

Re: Blog: The Sisyphussian Bug
Sorry for misdescribing the cat pictures, I meant "no showable progress" and I meant no offense. When you do have squashed all the bugs you planned, one of the ways to present the results would be a side-by-side comparison video, something similar to this. Or, to present it right in the blogpost, a gif screencast such as this one (link to howto).
Re: Blog: The Sisyphussian Bug
I believe the adjective is "Sisyphean".
Re: Blog: The Sisyphussian Bug
Sisyphean, it seems. ;P
EDIT: Oh, you already corrected yourself. ;P

hey David!
why not committing into main trunk so that we can all benefit from your progress so far?

Because its not done yet? That's the reason for a branch
ReactOS is still in alpha stage, meaning it is not feature-complete and is recommended only for evaluation and testing purposes
Re: Blog: The Sisyphussian Bug
Exactly. The current code is incomplete. Until it works well enough that we can switch the default explorer to explorer-new, it makes no sense to commit to trunk.
Re: Blog: The Sisyphussian Bug
Checkout für branch and build byself. I do so.elhoir wrote:hey David!

Re: Blog: The Sisyphussian Bug
Wasn't it partially implemented in the 0.3.16 RC2, though?EmuandCo wrote:Because its not done yet? That's the reason for a branch
Re: Blog: The Sisyphussian Bug
Explorer_new was. The new shell32 library, not so much.
