Motto competition (Phase 1)

Post by ArmyMan007 »

Hey everyone,

There has been a lot of talk about PR and everything that revolves around it, but I think we forgot the most basic concept of PR: motto!

In order to raise awareness to the project, I'm promoting the official motto competition in order to choose the project's motto. ALL submissions are to be sent by December 31st, until 23:59 (GMT +2). Afterwards, the competition will continue to it's second phase, choosing the winner among the submissions.

Good luck, and may the odds be ever in your favor :D

Mr. Z98, a man of few words...
@ArmyMan007: You've got some explaining to do!

You're promotion is not very convincing... what can be won? (Since this is a competition). Is this your idea or are you referring to some old competition.. since you are saying "official" but you do not have the red or yellow username that the "officials" have? How will the voting/choosing happen? Community or some more "officials"?

Both of you are taking the fun out of this. You don't have to be too semantic about this: official could be used in many variations.

@bernrddt: competition doesn't always carry a reward or a monetary prize if you take part in it. For me, the real "prize" would be your motto that shines over the ROS mascot / logo.

For the sake of semantics, I've canceled all "official" references.

Let the competition resume!

Gee, last post is 5 years old , but anyway. On the other hand, according to the pool, forum's response was positive (2/3 aye), so it might be interesting.
@ArmyMan007 May be you should go trough this other topic and write down what was already suggested?

@fred02 - I thought about it, but that was 8 years ago. I think that now the community is large enough to raise that question again.

I'm going to start by making my suggestion, as noted under every post I make: 'ReactOS - What's Your React?"

Except that you can't promise the "winner" anything. The developers have not indicated any desire for a motto, nor have they indicated they would accept a community chosen one.

How about 'Doing More With Less'? ROS uses less resources; memory and drive space. :ugeek:

It's a bit off-topic, but it might be useful to remind that ROS will not automatically be faster and leaner than Windows, once it reaches usable stage. Right now it is smaller simply because it also does less. ;)

Yes, I noticed, a nice one btw, but better not to ask a Linux guy. Then again, negative reaction is better than no reaction at all.
