Potential problem with 0.3.15 on real hw
We've received a report that the 0.3.15 RC does not install on real hardware due potentially to uniata. We're trying to get more information to see how serious the bug is, so I am asking people with real hardware available to try and install the two RCs here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/reacto ... OS/0.3.15/ on their machines. The original report was trying to install to IDE drives, which is even more worrisome. When you respond, please indicate if either of the ISOs worked or if both failed. Note that the only difference between the two ISOs is the build environment used, as we have already confirmed that the newer uniata version in trunk works. We are however also trying to investigate whether the build environment is also somehow responsible for mucking up the driver.
Re: Potential problem with 0.3.15 on real hw
Could this be related to CORE-6774, and fixed by moving the CD-ROM drive from primary slave to secondary master?

Re: Potential problem with 0.3.15 on real hw
The problem exists on my laptop (Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Pro V3515 with Core Duo T2350).
Reactos 0.3.14 installs and works fine.
0.3.15 RC 2 installs but when booting up bluescreen appears.
I tested it last weekend so I don't remember the error code anymore. Changing different settings (like Standard Processor instead ACPI) when installing didn't help.
Hard drive is SATA SSD (a-data s391).

Re: Potential problem with 0.3.15 on real hw
1) Did it bluescreen consistently?
2) Does trunk work?
2) Does trunk work?
Re: Potential problem with 0.3.15 on real hw
0.3.15 RC2-ALT also ends up in bluescreen when booting at the same laptop.
I'm not sure but might be exactly same error as in 0.3.15 RC2 original. I already trashed that CD-R so can't verify
Checking latest trunk build next.
BTW at the end of install:
Takes forever to finish - I have to reboot manually pressing the power button, or else it goes nowhere.
Code: Select all
A problem has been detected and Reactos has been shut down...

Code: Select all
The system is now making sure all data is stored on your disk
This may take a minute
When finished, your computer will reboot automatically
Re: Potential problem with 0.3.15 on real hw
Changing CD-drive configuration in BIOS to Secondary Master solves the problem on 0.3.15 RC2-ALT. Reactos installs fine and even usb mouse works!!

Re: Potential problem with 0.3.15 on real hw
So CORE-6774 has moved from a Bochs problem into the real world.

Re: Potential problem with 0.3.15 on real hw
The problem is documented here: http://jira.reactos.org/browse/CORE-7083 and the behavior leads me to believe it is NOT the same as the master/slave issue with the CD-ROM.
Re: Potential problem with 0.3.15 on real hw
Both versions installed to desktop on Dell Latitude 110L without any issues.
Re: Potential problem with 0.3.15 on real hw
As far as I concerned, any release after 0.3.14 will failed on reboot after you install any audio driver. It was never fixed since then. I thought developers was purposely disable the audio hardware access between releases. The failure always show something else, but each time it's failed on reboot was after audio driver installed.

Re: Potential problem with 0.3.15 on real hw
VBox Audio worked really fine on CLT2013.
ReactOS is still in alpha stage, meaning it is not feature-complete and is recommended only for evaluation and testing purposes
Re: Potential problem with 0.3.15 on real hw
I tried to install ReactOS on my KT7A test machine (VIA KT133/VT82C686B chipset) and both builds randomly either hung at a black screen before setup started, or hung while copying files during setup. CD is Secondary Master, and the HD is on VIA 6421 SATA adapter. I stuffed an older Uniata (from build 57357) I happened to have laying around in to the ISO image, and then everything worked perfectly.
I also tested the install on my Pentium 200 system (Intel 82371SB). HD Primary Master, CD Primary Slave, and interestingly everything worked perfectly there.

So, what rev were you using?
Re: Potential problem with 0.3.15 on real hw
Both the 0.3.15rc2.iso and 0.3.15rc2-alt.iso builds linked to at the top of the thread.
