Windows XP Visual style support?

Post by Cyber Toon » Thu Mar 14, 2013 9:14 pm

It obviously would be hard to replicate aero , so could reactOS (in the future) have support for XP visual styles? it has a variety of nice themes for it, and finally no ux patching :D

it allready has.
You have to start theming in the service manager, reboot, copy your theme to %WINDIR%\resources\themes\<themename> and select it via desktop properties.

because not everybody wants this.
ReactOS aims for performance and so there are unneeded services disabled by default.
If somebody wants this they can enable it.

I think if there is a default theme somewhen, the service will be enabled by default.

I agree on the UX patching part. For Windows, you have to patch the UX file to use 3rd party themes, so our equivalent hopefully will be like an already patched copy and not be limited to only the ones we or Microsoft design.
