Amine Khaldi is preparing a new awesome feature!
He has been working on it totally secret ;)
Soon he will reveal what's about...but I'm sure a few of you will enjoy it :)
Let's keep the mistery a littl' bit more...

Heheh.... I have heard rumors too.

Don't worry, I know how to keep a secret, if it is related to what I think it is.

Indeed it is absolutely awesome!!!

Well, it could be anything. So instead of guessing, I will write here my wish list and if it happens to be anything of the listed, I will be very happy :)
So here it goes:
  • Better hardware support for the new graphic, sound, network cards.
  • New hardware support, for example ARM (raspberry pi or similar would be great!)
  • Better USB support
  • Better software support - browsers working (newest opera, for ex.), torrent software, KiCAD working (it used to work improperly, now it just bsods)
  • Multicore CPU support
  • New MM rewrite (aka better stability of the kernel)
  • Theming implemented, maybe even explorer_new
I may have missed something, but I pretty much covered everything there may be to implement in ReactOS. Of course, I know some of these wishes are too optimistic, but one can dream :)

If any of the previous gets implemented, it would be wonderful. Ideally, if all of this gets implemented one day, I would immediately switch to it as my secondary, or even primary PC and I would convince others to do so as well.

EDIT:
And I forgot:
What ever it is - Thank you, Amine!

Amines skills. In the past he did syncs with wine and uniata and he switched the build environment to cmake instead of rbuild. IIRC he also helped edijus with the ahk work. also he did great things with PR.

based of this things my list off possible surprises is the following.
  • IDE Support for VS
  • ReactOS can Build on itself
  • a major uniata update which he maybe prepared together with alter.
  • maybe arwinss integration, because it depends hardly on wine.
  • a veeeeeeeeeeeeery nice PR action
  • financial help or the win in some campaign
but the thing that I expect at most is a coordinated testing and bugsmashing action as release preparation for 0.3.15.

I am almost sure we'll know something for tonight or tomorrow morning in case a problem arises when integrating it.

well, does it have something to do with the fact that Aleksey is changing the components in Jira from win32 to win32ss at lots of allready fixed bugs?

I've just checked the jira bug section - it must be something big since Aleksey Bragin has updated a lot of the core bugs with the win32 component - so after watching the jira being updated I'm now curious.

This?
http://code.google.com/p/reactos-mirror ... il?r=58141

Code: Select all

* Visual Studio IDE support bringup. We can now even compile bootcd/livecd...etc
straight from the IDE.
* For anyone who wants to work only on a certain module (or a set of modules),
you can add "project(module)" to the related CMake file. This will generate a
solution that contains all the required dependencies needed to compile only that
module, without having to open a huge solution with 900+ projects.
* We'll create a wiki page to explain how to use this in detail.
* Dedicated to all VS users. Have fun ;)
