Feeling a bit left behind, are we? :)
Thing is, I do have VB but I don't have Delphi so it's more difficult to test Delphi. If you can send me (gvg@reactos.com) a Delphi "Hello, world" type of program I can try to make it run.

okay, i sent you 3 delphi apps, you can get some more complicated
delphi apps on my site - gtatools.com

VB4 had a 16-bit version and a 32-bit version.
If you ever want a VB4 (32-bit) program I can send you one, although "Hello World" would probably have to appear in a MsgBox.

VB Apps

Post by avryhof » Sat Dec 18, 2004 8:15 am

It's nice to see support for VB, since it opens up ReactOS to non-core developers.

Such simple applications as text editors, word processors and so forth are easily written in VB.

I am currently working on an HTML "IDE" in VB6, designed to work like the VB6 IDE, and use style tags with elements to control the layout and look of the page.

There are also a number of other things that can easily be done with VB, such as quick utilities to perform repetitive tasks (like renaming MP3 files, converting text files to HTML with the Header, Footer and Pre tag, so on and so forth)

Moreover, many companies use custom VB programs to do a specific task, and Use it because it is easy to adapt and upgrade.

So, congratulations to GvG, and I hope full VB support keeps going, so I can add ReactOS to the compatibility of my applications.

For every crappy VB programmer out there, there is a great one sitting there feeling insulted.

good news, Ge van Geldorp told me over email that delphi apps depend on
winapi call 'GetMonitorFromWindow' that was implemented in D4, thats why
older D3 apps worked..

GetMonitorFromWindow was also just implemented in ROS so delphi apps
should work in next ROS releases.

don't worry about the special window trick app, it even barely works on
win32 if i put edit controls into that window they don't recieve mouse
events under windows, so don't bother getting that one to work under ROS unless later when you are getting close to perfect.

so, when can i get the latest cvs now when reactsoft is down?

Since reactsoft.com is down, the transfer speed of http://reactos.csh-consult.dk is rather slow, I think.

ReactSoft is back up, but it's JUST the files, no site to speak of.

Coming on, coming up, let me help ROS and I'll be able to look @ a life well used.

That's good so! I like the pre installed qemu image. And it's not available under http://reactos.csh-consult.dk/ .

Changes to get VB6 "Hello, world" running are committed now. Simple Delphi stuff should work too. VB4 gets a little bit further but doesn't run yet.

thats not problem of delphi, it is my problem and the problem how i
designed the thing on first level, it isn't finished yet, so i can promise
you won't be seeing how sliders appear in the final version.

edit: someone tell me if vu meters work, mine doesn't and neither does
on windows sndvol32 so i can't test that - probably bad driver..
