Running win32k on windows kernel

Post by X512 »

Is it possible? It could increase win32 subsystem development speed.

I mean running win32k.sys driver on Windows kernel(ntoskrnl.exe) instead native driver. Using Windows just as kernel with ReactOS libraries and services. Mayble smss.exe should be replaced with ReactOS one.

Oh! You want to use the ROS win32k.sys in Windows? That's an interesting idea. It would tell you a lot (or nothing ;) ) about how complete/stable ROS is. I wouldn't do it on a computer with needed data/applications, but it's worth a shot.

Windows kernel? XP for testing... Yes this could work. Long as one stuck with most of all ReactOS files. Certainly, Win32k and the core User32, Gdi32, Kernel32, NtDLL and AdvAPI32....
