DirectX 9
Just arrived from micromart article.
I was gonna move from windows tolinux, but i play Everquest, and need something thats directx 9c compatible.
DO i guess you dont support this yet?
AM impressed you have an installation cd. I hate faffing about with iso images....
WIll decide over next few weeks which machine to put this on....have a few old pcs lying about.
IF this os is to have a future, it will need to move away from being a geek project, and become user friendly, which it clearly isnt atmo. imo it has potential.....

Re: DirectX 9
It's as user friendly as windows 2003 was too, what exactly do you mean?
ReactOS is still in alpha stage, meaning it is not feature-complete and is recommended only for evaluation and testing purposes
Re: DirectX 9
Yeah, I don't think we support DX9 ("ReactX9"). Although, the Windows version of ZSnes works just fine, but it also needs DX9, so I don't know what stage of support we have.dodgypengui wrote:i play Everquest, and need something thats directx 9c compatible. DO i guess you dont support this yet?

Do keep in mind that ReactOS isn't even beta yet. It's got lots of rough spots. You could help us out, though, by telling us what works and what doesn't. For example, if you try to put EverQuest on ROS, let us know if it installs, if it starts up, etc. Knowing what to fix starts with knowing what's broken.

Re: DirectX 9
I believe most of DirectX is done through a type of OpenGL wrapper, if you will. Not quite native as Windows does it.

Yeah, it's a wrapper. I did notice WineD3D in the control panel from one of the latest builds.

Re: DirectX 9
I like the idea of ReactX...
Happy to hear that ReactOS supports DirectX 9.0

not by a developer... but it is new information for me xDI believe most of DirectX is done through a type of OpenGL wrapper
Re: DirectX 9
And how did you interpret that statement to mean ROS supported DX9?
Re: DirectX 9
im sorry, the title of this topic is DirectX 9 so i thought you were talking about it :/
Re: DirectX 9
Given the stage that ReactOS is at now, you're more likely to have success running your game on Linux with Wine.
