EPIC WIN!

Post by ArmyMan007 »

Hey everyone,

Since I opened up the official "EPIC FAIL" thread (link: http://www.reactos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=10959), I've wittiness numerous users attempt to install / run programs which are usable in Windows™ but ultimitly failed in ReactOS. However, I took notice of vicmarcal's post, pointing out that maybe we should try to show apps (not from the golden apps list) that actually work, showing ROS capability of running more programs then listed in the golden apps list.

The other day I tried installing Google Earth™ but it failed. This led me to decide that I have an "EPIC FAIL" situation here, but SomeGuy managed, surprisingly, to install and partially-run Google Earth™:

This is with 5.2.1 and sadly it doesn't get any further before ReactOS BSODs.

Protip: Always use the full installer, not the Internet downloader (Yo, dawg, I hear you like downloading, so we made you download a downloader so you can download your download!)
Because of his success, I've decided to open a counter thread, called "EPIC WIN". Much like the other thread, the sole purpose is to show programs that are able to run in ReactOS, either partially or completely. No technical details required when you add your working programs.

Let's win! ;)

if I would know how to change the thread's name […]
By editing the "Subject:" field in the first post.

I think it would be good to mention some EPIC WINs in ReactOS Newsletters. People would probably like to see progress not only from the developer's point of view, but from user's, too. Maybe somebody could help Z98 with writing newsletters…

The PR team is working on other stuff at the moment, but as soon as possible we'll work on these matters also. The PR team was just established a month ago, but I understand the necessity of seeing things from the users point of view.

EPIC WINs anyone?

While it was a little while ago, I consider getting my scanner running under ReactOS to be a serious win. To do this, it uses TWO windows XP drivers, one for the SCSI card, and one for the scanner.

As it happens, both of these devices appear to be supported natively by Linux, but there are many others that aren't and Wine can't run drivers!

This is the shit that ReactOS is all about! :D

I don't have access to a machine powerful enough to run even ReactOS right now. Can someone try Kvirc using the wiki guide?
