0.3.14 RC2

0.3.14 RC2
A second RC for 0.3.14 has been posted here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/reactos ... o/download
The main purpose of this RC is to see whether the hack Cameron Gutman provided works around the memory manager issue causing hangs while copying mshtml.dll during installation. Due to problems with the wallpapers, a livecd will not be built at this time.

Re: 0.3.14 RC2
Can't believe I'm saying this, but it works for me. No other "fix" has worked before this.
Also, I don't get the normal "You don't have a mshtml.dll" message box like normal, just a skip over it after a while.

----------EDIT----------
After installing the sound driver through RAPPS, rebooting twice, right-clicking the sound icon, choosing Properties, and attempting to move the slider in the dialog, ROS BSOD'd on me. This may not be from the RC, but I figured I might as well mention it.

Re: 0.3.14 RC2
It works for me. There is a very long pause when it says it is registering mshtml.dll during which the hard drive light flashes. Eventually it continues but doesn't pop up the Wine Gecko window.
However I also found that the USB branch posted by igorko ( http://www.reactos.org/forum/viewtopic. ... 5&start=15 ) worked for me yesterday, the only difference was that one popped up the Wine Gecko window after registering mshtml.dll.
These two are the first versions to completely install for me after several months of experiencing the problem.

Re: 0.3.14 RC2
Hell yeah!!! It works for me too. now I can test something with VBox instead of sloooooooooow QEMU
An issue I saw is that the Version in Start Menu is still 0.4 SVN.
Add this Hackfix to trunk too please

Re: 0.3.14 RC2
This RC doesn't play sound. The trunk from a few days ago did just fine. I installed the driver, rebooted a couple of times, but still no mixer. The hardware shows and says it's working properly, but still no mixer. I never really experienced the mshtml bug before on a VBox, and I still don't, but the sound is rather important to me, so I wouldn't want a 0.3.14 release, until this is fixed.
Re: 0.3.14 RC2
I'm getting the same issue but as mentioned elsewhere sound has never worked for me, another thing I notice is that once I install the vbox drivers I'm unable to seamless move the mouse from ReactOS to the host operating system (without pressing R-CTRL). Yet this feature works in the USB branch.fLuXx wrote:This RC doesn't play sound. The trunk from a few days ago did just fine. I installed the driver, rebooted a couple of times, but still no mixer. Edit: Just checked I don't get sound in the USB branch either. If I check the device manager it tells me that the driver is installed and working correctly, but if I open audio properties everything is greyed out.
Re: 0.3.14 RC2
Did you check if sound works with hardware acceleration disabled? It works for me, as it always worked since ntdll rewrite.
Re: 0.3.14 RC2
I had sound testing USB build posted in the USB now works thread just yesterday. No changes in settings whatsoever.
Re: 0.3.14 RC2
Did you test the official iso? What ac97 driver did you used? We would also need your vbox config as well as debug log from driver installing and booting afterwards.

Re: 0.3.14 RC2
Using the official driver in RAPPS, it works for me. Only thing I had an issue with that finally fixed it was that I had accidentally left VBox on an Intel soundcard instead of the ac97 in the machine settings.

Re: 0.3.14 RC2
This was z98's ISO since this is the first that allows me to get past the mshtml bug. The driver is the one from Rapps. Where can I find a pastable list of the vbox config settings, I'm sure I saw something about locating them before.Haos wrote:Did you test the official iso? What ac97 driver did you used? Re: 0.3.14 RC2
Sound worked for me I used the driver from rapps. When I VBox set for PulseAudio as Host driver the sound was slow and stuttered. when I used ALSA it sounded better.

Does the new device wizard come up for audio device at subsequent reboots? What was the VBox version? What OS do you have on host, Windows or Linux?
