ReactOS Demo On ReactOS Site

Post by ercanersoy »

I think a ReactOS Demo on JPC. I wish ReactOS Web Site included this. If ReactOS Web Site include this, people uses it.

JPC has a terrible x86 emulation. Nothing really boots nicely in it yet
ReactOS is still in alpha stage, meaning it is not feature-complete and is recommended only for evaluation and testing purposes.

If my post/reply offends or insults you, be sure that you know what sarcasm is...

QEmu with Docker?
-uses Ubuntu+GNOME 3 GNU/Linux
-likes Free (as in freedom) and Open Source Detergents
-favors open source of Windows 10 under GPL2

I don't think the ReactOS foundation needs to add user accessible Virtual Machines on their servers, so if something like this were to be done, the virtualization would need to occur on the end-user's machine. This leaves us options like (per ercanersoy's original post) JPC (which, according to EmuandCo, "has a terrible x86 emulation" making it unsuitable for this (yet), and is Java, which is a pro or con depending on your point of view), and v86 (not complete yet, but is javascript, which is widely available in modern browsers, and is also faster than the better known jslinux).
I would say that we should use v86, but ReactOS doesn't boot on it yet: See v86 issue 52 & ReactOS issue CORE-8803, so for now, I recommend anyone who wants to see in-browser ReactOS testing to do what they can to help on one of those two issues.

The copy.sh site includes a copy of Microsoft Windows v. 1.01 running on the v86 emulator. This could be a violation of Microsoft's product license. If so, linking to this site may violate Rule 4 of the ReactOS Code of Conduct.

We weren't discussing where to get MS Windows 1.01, a link to the disk image isn't easy to find, distributing such files is not the purpose of the site, so I don't think it counts, but if a mod says it's not ok, then the links could be changed to point to github.com/copy/v86 instead.

Change it. That particular rule is enforced very stringently.

OK, I've changed mine, but I can't edit other people's posts.

v86 emulator is great emulation software. I test v86 afterwards.

I think ReactOS Demo with v86 is great.

ReactOS with v86 has an advantages. These advantages:
  • People don't need set a emulator for knowing ReactOS. A few clicks are easy for newbies.
  • People don't need download a file for trying new features of ReactOS.
  • Trying ReactOS on a smartphone or a tablet computer easily.
Could ReactOS Demo on ReactOS Internet Site via v86?

Sure, but it's pretty slow: http://www.exceedindustries.net/v86/ind ... _live.html

Check here for something similar to v86: https://distrotest.net/ReactOS
