0.3.12 is out.

Post by EmuandCo »

As asked for, here a announcement of Version 0.3.12
Here is the newest Version of ReactOS

Please vote for it (digg, reddit, etc).
Thx in advance

Btw, feel free to discuss the release here.
ReactOS is still in alpha stage, meaning it is not feature-complete and is recommended only for evaluation and testing purposes.

If my post/reply offends or insults you, be sure that you know what sarcasm is...

Hi All,
I'm not a developer but I download and try operating systems quite
often. Looking forward to trying this out.
IIf anyone knows - what are they working on in the 'Google Summer of Code"
for ReactOS?
Just wondering what MS is going to do when you get a stable release?
Ive tried a lot of popular OS's.
What is the deal with the love of Apple and Linux-dont see it!
Apple an expensive pain in the ass.
Linux sucks on drivers.
Ive had discussions with my brother who is a developer
He agrees that there is nothing easy or simple about either.

Here are the 6 accepted GSOC projects:

There is no telling what MS will do, though I imagine they will continue their same strategies as always.

Yes, Apple is even more proprietary than Intel+MS stuff. Linux is popular, and those most likely to use it are more likely than the average user to be able to write their own drivers.

Linux is popular
This is a general assumption, as it is - incorrect.

Really? Many people use it, and in many different flavors. Not as many as there are Windows users, but still a significant share of computer users worldwide.

I wouldn't call something below 1% significant. If you are looking for popular OSes, besides Windows, there is OSX and Android - i know of its origin, but still, its known as Android and not Linux. There is another example alike Android - with Iphone. Iphone IS popular, but its OS is not.

GNU/Linux is popular in several highly specialized environments, but this doesn't mean it is popular in general.

Wrong. OSX is based on BSD kernel, not Linux.

Nothing. There is no thread for 0.3.13 nor any pending version.

So you use this thread to talk about anything other than 0.3.12, Linux is not 0.3.13 either, besides, there is a post about 0.3.13. Anyway, what I mean here is that this topic is completely spoiled. If someone comes from the outside for the first time looking for news about 0.3.12 he ends up reading about Linux, BSD, and MacOSX...
