Virtualbox 3.0.0

I've noticed that Virtualbox 3.0.0 is released today as a 'major release' with support for Direct3D apps/games and OpenGL2.0 :D
Full changelog here http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Changelog

I've downloaded/installed it on my computer (vista x86) and installed latest trunk of ReactOS,
overall seems pretty stable, installation went fine, guest additions installed fine also,
only I have the feeling the mouse driver doesn't work completely, because the mouse doesn't snap out automatically.

I haven't tested everything yet but it seems like a good release this time.

Nice, they jumped the WTF 2.X versions. They have had more regressions that advances in 2.X (just exagerating a bit). But this seems to be a quite nice version

Yea but Windows 2K/XP worked for me like a charm on older versions so its not only Virtualbox to blame

Anyone tested this yet with an Vista x64 host? (There were some boot and network problems with ReactOS at vbox 2.X.X.)

I have already tested 3.0.0 beta with ROS and it works quite nice. Guest additions can still be installed smoothly. Not all errors were fixed though.
Havent tested DX passthrough yet.

I was going to create a topic about this... seems like I wasn't fast enough.

But I'll be the first to test the D3d acceleration!
(I'll post the results on the Generic part of the forum)

I'm using Windows XP and VirtualBox 3. Why i'm trying to run ReactOS, I have BSOD (in VM, not in Windows).

Pisarz is better to open a new thread to talk about this issue :)
When does the BSOD happens?Loading Video driver?Configuration of the VM(RAM,HDD,...)?In our wiki you can find a "How to obtain a Debug log"?Which can give us the clues to find the issue. :)
Thanks to test Reactos ;)

First ReactOS is starting in 256 color mode (desktop and mouse pointer), and shortly after this appears ntoskrln.exe BSOD.

Seems an issue with VBox driver.
Tell us the revision you are testing.
And obtain a debuglog(you have to use a Debug ISO instead a Release ISO) http://www.reactos.org/wiki/VirtualBox# ... bug_output

I've tested official "stable" 0.3.10. I will download and test LiveCD.

Guest Additions cause a black screen for me in trunk after ReactOS loads the drivers before the desktop.

Not true.

1. Configure virtual COM1 port, redirect it to a socket. The command looks like this:

Code: Select all

VBoxManage modifyvm vm1 --uart1 0x3f8 4 --uartmode1 client /tmp/com1
where vm1 should be the name of VM. The list of all created VMs can be viewed with

Code: Select all

VBoxManage list vms
command.

2. Install socat package.

3. Run

Code: Select all

socat unix-listen:/tmp/com1 -
command to see debug messages on the screen, or redirect output to a file:

Code: Select all

socat unix-listen:/tmp/com1 - > com1.log
Run it each time before VirtualBox.

4. Start VM, choose ReactOS (Debug).

VirtualBox can redirect COM port directly into a file, but for some reason it did not work when I tried.

This message has nothing to do with pisarz's or coldreactive's problem but what I have noticed with latest virtualbox (3.0.4) and reactos 0.3.10 is that the resolution can be up to 1152x864 @ 32bit now after guest additions are installed.

Mouse-integration however doesn't work.

When I'm trying to boot LiveCD (in VirtualBox), I have black screen too. I don't know why, but build r34004 works fine.
