New Windows-like Kali Linux theme

Post by theuserbl »

Kali Linux have created for its latest Version 2019.4 an additional LookAndFeel
https://www.kali.org/news/kali-linux-2019-4-release/

Beside the typical Kali LookAndFeel, it can now change to the "Undercover mode", which have a very similar look like Windows.

Nice icons and wallpaper have they created.

The copy of icons and themes is forbidden, if it's identical to the original, because of brevets and licences...

Kali Linux is not a small noname distribution.
If Kali doing it, than it is legal.
And if it is legal for Kali, then it is legal for ReactOS, too.

Behind Kali standing a company called "Offensive-Security". They know what they do.
And Kali is the distribution for forensic things.

Possible they have recreated the icons and wallpaper or so...

Office and Xbox Logo are trademarks and thus the usage is NOT legal. Maybe in the lil spot they live, but not over here.
ReactOS is still in alpha stage, meaning it is not feature-complete and is recommended only for evaluation and testing purposes.

If my post/reply offends or insults you, be sure that you know what sarcasm is...

Well, the full Windows 10 icon set actually. Including the "e" of Internet Explorer etc...

True that. Didn't verify the rest, just saw two obvious ones and stopped then ^^

Well, I moved it to Off Topic and here I have no objections against it ^^

Maybe Kali Linux is not a noname distribution, but there is no link with the fact is legal or not.
For example, Ubuntu add the MP3 drivers in the past and it was illegal (but now the brevets are over). They said to protect them, that is legal in some countries and they are not responsible if the people install it, but in fact they are not the rights to do that.

This is a custom theme that is illegally installed on windows. Windows officially doesn't support this.

This theme isn't on Windows though. This is a windows-like theme on Kali Linux.

If you want to use an illegal theme nobody stop you, but it's impossible to implement it in the system for right reasons. I'm pretty sure this theme is not a built in Kali Linux theme. I think it could be a third party theme take on a customization website.

As you can see from their own website, Kali Linux appears to incorporate that "Undercover" mode that displays this windows 10 like theme, therefore it looks to me like it is "built in"...
