We need tmpfs support before deploying on this.
-uses Ubuntu+GNOME 3 GNU/Linux
-likes Free (as in freedom) and Open Source Detergents
-favors open source of Windows 10 under GPL2

We first need the file systems Windows supports. Then we can talk about those POSIX toys.

No regular filesystem can cope with a RAM-only case. I therefore said tmpfs. Ramdisk will not perform well because it requires three layers of translation because of contiguous allocation requirement. tmpfs, on the other hand involves two layers of translation and specifically deemed appropriate for RAM-only filesystems.
