Currently I found something interresting.
With a hack it is possible to launch x86 Apps on WinRT Devices, not all Apps only older ones, but it is a great thing.
It is said that it is done via emulation, but my first thinking was: "oh a WinRT Port of Wine"
The device has to be jailbreaked to use this.

x86 Apps on Windows RT

Re: x86 Apps on Windows RT
Actually, it reminds me more of Rosetta on Mac (PPC emulation on x86).
Interesting project, maybe something similar could be implemented in ReactOS for ARM some day (I think it was already discussed somewhere on the forums).

Perhaps you mean my post about dynamic application translation:Interesting project, maybe something similar could be implemented in ReactOS for ARM some day (I think it was already discussed somewhere on the forums).

I would like to reiterate that getting x86-32 Windows applications to run natively on ARM without programmer intervention is not as hard as some might think. It would be far easier, in my opinion, than writing an emulator.
Even though I am busy with many other things at the moment, I thought about creating a prototype application translator to prove how easy it would be (relatively speaking). The problem is that, even I were to create such a translator, it would be useless because ReactOS currently does not run on ARM.

Hmm...A certain ros dev already tried to create something like that (for PPC, not for ARM)…
Has ReactOS ever run successfully on PPC?
Re: x86 Apps on Windows RT
Nope, it was a lot older topic, I think. It was something I read in may 2012. Proposed idea was integrating QEMU-i386 into ReactOS.BlackRabbit wrote:Perhaps you mean my post about dynamic application translation:Interesting project, maybe something similar could be implemented in ReactOS for ARM some day (I think it was already discussed somewhere on the forums).
