2012 reboot competition

Hello my friends,

I'd like to announce the opening of the 2012 reboot competition. The aim this year is to break down Windows 7 installations to a overall size weight bellow 100Mb and then compete for the most innovative projects: http://reboot.pro/topic/17801-reboot-co ... -bootdisk/

Participants should present projects that allow end-users creating the same results on their desktops using their own Windows files to prevent legal troubles with Microsoft.

ReactOS does not qualify as replacement for the Windows 7 sources, otherwise a ROS based project would not give a fair chance to other teams and would win this competition as the smallest build around..

Perhaps next year we can use this yearly even to promote awareness on ROS customization. For now, I would be happy to see a ROS team competing as all valid projects presented will get listed on the final ranking. This could already be a good opportunity to bring to test the skills of ROS developers about MS kernels and break Windows down to real extreme.

Very interesting. You do give an idea. What if in the future, a group of people could compete to see what ReactOS plus Windows build combinations would work and were encouraged to report what didn't work? I wonder if that could help compatibility? Of course, like I've said before, internal functioning compatibility is not as important as external compatibility. The modules in ReactOS could communicate differently internally while exposing all the same APIs and driver compatibility.

I guess it takes one step at a time. Would be happy that first people on the mainstream side would take conscience of how extreme Windows can work and then slowly we could work to replace/move this focus onto a ROS build competition.

i am not an Ros-Fan, i be a Member of Reactos A fan it is not on it and be more crazy at most *bg*,
but i be on it if i can, on Facebook be Fan's *bg*
You shoult wrote with Fireball... ma by if you want per pm(ma by better)
how can you help the Project.. the peoples goes blind for real helping hands,
there for should you connect the right peoples on reactos directly .. you see
Ehh 2nd call, do you have ma by "Cracks" on Webpage design on hand
who be realy good on it ? Tell it Fireball too.. it should create a wedesignteam
for reactos with Ajax, gtk, perl, php and so things around of php and html ..,

I've seen attempts at running Windows 7 on a Pentium II, but ripping them to a hundred MB seems ridiculous. Seems cool though.
