Android gaming console & Windows 8 with Xbox support

Post by jonaspm »

Today i want to share with you these improvements in the videogames world:

1-. Recently was announced a new gaming console being developed running Android 4.0 with Tegra 3 for only $99 USD... In less than 24 hours it broke and doubled its planned funding campaign reaching $2 Million USD on Kickstarter...(today)

2-. there are a lot of rumors that Microsoft will add support for Xbox 360 in Windows 8 so you could play games from your PC

Why should microsoft destroy their own console market. Check the release preview and you won't see anything in this direction. This would mean they have to fully emulate the console.
ReactOS is still in alpha stage, meaning it is not feature-complete and is recommended only for evaluation and testing purposes.

maybe its better for them because they´re about to release their new console (about a year) and now consoles are being sold less than before, so giving Windows 8 support for 360 games, will give more life to the Xbox 360 then when they release Xbox 8 (or any other name) that console will only run new games

I'd like to see the reference for this claim.

Considering the 360 uses a completely different processor architecture, anyone claiming that 360 games will run in Win8 needs to present hard proof. Otherwise there is no reason to believe them.

i have no plans of buying windows 8, it's a train wreck. btw sbware iron web browser sort of works under wine. ccleaner work 100%, avant web browser works 100% defraggler works o.k but can not detect hard disc correctly. firefox 12 works great 100% windows media player sort of. i say it opens opens up but in a screwed up kind of way. 7zip works 100% too :) and last but not least abiword 2.8 works great :)

I thought I would mention xbox support isn't completely a new idea from microsoft. Check out XNA. It allows developers to target both windows and xbox. This means a lot of xbox games have a windows compatible api. I used to develop with XNA until Microsoft decided to drop the download for the associated Visual Studio version(which was required for installation of that particular XNA SDK version) from their express edition page. Not a very good thing for a game engine designed for other people to use.
