Programs That Require Validation
Will programs that require validation (such as IE7) eventually work on ReactOS, or will those likely never be support, since "supporting" them will likely be against the terms of use for each respective program?

Re: New reactos cd cover
Why would there be a Blu-ray version? The day that operating systems need to be distributed on Blu-ray discs is the day that I stop upgrading. And the covers need more color, in my opinion. There's a huge problem on the Web (and in various projects) that stems from this notion that things need to be...

Re: new ReactOS Explorer design
Also, a task panel needn't have static commands (aside from maybe links to My Computer and whatnot), but it'd be nice to common tasks for certain file types to be implemented. For instance, highlighting a video file (which would be determined by the registered file type associates) would cause vario...

Re: new ReactOS Explorer design
Certain things that should be static in a context menu aren't. For instance, while I realize that you can get to the Task Manager in windows by right-clicking on the Taskbar, I kinda wonder if it wouldn't make more sense to just put it in all context menus within Explorer. I mean, I use Task Manager...

Re: My Computer
Altough I'm all for improving the usability of Explorer, I don't think this particular suggestion has any merits. -Extra visible controls have negative impact on performance (lists that need to be populated and sorted, icons loaded etc.), and this is very much against ReactOS design goals. Just loo...

Re: My Computer
Nice to see that someone likes the idea already. I figured that My Computer should actually consist of a bit more than simply the drives and whatnot. This way, you've got your drives, but you also have access to most of the hardware and software that's on your computer.

My Computer
I was thinking of a neat approach to My Computer in ReactOS that might make certain things easier to access. It kinda borrows from Windows Vista in a small way. Basically, clicking on My Computer will bring up the drives that you'd generally access this way in Windows, but with a twist: My Computer ...

Re: categorised start menu
It really depends on the user. Really, I don't particularly see any need for a categorized Start menu for most users, aside from maybe tucking games and stuff like that away elsewhere. I'd recommend having the same Start menu paths that're available in Windows, but having ReactOS look through those ...

Re: new ReactOS Explorer design
That's not a bad idea, but I do think that it's a bit unnecessary. I mean, you can just offer something similar to the tasks pane in Windows XP. I do understand your idea, but I think that it'd make things look far too cluttered, depending on the item that's selected. I do think that - with some twe...

Re: Reactos Cerficated Driver Database of Manufacturer
What good is it that Windows drivers will work if there's no system in place to automatically detect and install said drivers? You can't expect ReactOS to catch on if there isn't some ease of setup in that the drivers and whatnot are automatically available. There are a lot of pre-built PC's out the...

Re: Reactos Cerficated Driver Database of Manufacturer
I was thinking of something like this recently, as well, although I didn't think of having hardware manufacturers being given direct access for submission of new drivers. Honestly, I doubt that this would work well if manufacturers were expected to submit new drivers, especially when you consider ho...

Re: File Management
I don't...know about this idea. If it was to somehow become a part of ReactOS (?), however, then it wouldn't make sense to have a black dog. First off, Penny should be a pink dog. Secondly, a black dog wouldn't look right as a small icon. Lastly, why dogs?

It's supposed to be in that perspective. It's like you're looking up at a huge curtain.

Re: Centralized Control Panel - Necessary?
How about a tabbed Control Panel that's significantly simplified in comparision to most Windows Control Panels of the past?

Oh, and could you please make these available at higher resolutions and in 4:3, 16:9 and 16:10 aspect ratios? 1440x900, please.
