Re: amount of developers increasing ?
For those that do not know the page I think wildschwein is referring to it is this one. http://www.reactos.org/wiki/People_of_ReactOS Though I think some of those are inactive. I tried to get in contact with someone and havn't received in email over many weeks. Plus I havn't seen or noticed commits ...

Re: What ideas i should do on Aquais OS.
Kyuuqsoft I'm curious on a few things. Only answer the questions you are comfortable with. I won't be offended ;). What is your budget? How many employees do you have(or planning to have if you have none)? what is your current full time job(If Kyuuqsoft isn't it at the moment)? How did you determine...

Re: Which your favorite programming language??
My path of languages I've learnt since i was a child QBasic->vb->java->php->javascript->c++->c->assembly(mips only at the moment) I really don't have a favorite language. I feel all come up a bit short in some way. Though the most interesting languages are assembly and c. As you can try relate how o...

Re: React OS X
my windows runs windows apps and any apps Ubuntu supports. Fast and have failed to see any bugs so far and i don't use a vm.
I do this using co-linux. if you create a co-osx you can run vanilla windows with the option to add osx support.

Re: first time with react os & totally nothing
ZLOTOWINFO just a big warning. reactos does not work anywhere really at the moment except vm's, and even if you do get it running it is likely to crash very frequently. So don't expect to actually use it as your main os. The project is in alpha stage and not very stable. Sorry to say this but a lot ...

Re: tools/methods to understand how an application runs
Yes I am using uxtheme to do the theming. For the most part it is just using SetWindowTheme and conveniently the tools do the theming for you. Though I suspect I will have to manually call uxtheme painting api and get values for some things. Edit: I really should have cropped that photo. It's stretc...

Re: Latest Arwinss ISO's
I downloaded it. It eventually installed after 3 attempts. Which seems a bit strange. What worked seemed to work well. Though I never actually managed to get to the shut down button because in my exploration I would eventually get a blue screen of death. Though I was installing every app I could thi...

Re: Windows Picture & Fax Viewer Clone
i don't know that it is a good idea to include msvbvm60.dll when there is no open source version. We would have to distribute a Microsoft dll with reactos. Which makes me a little nervous. Though who knows maybe the license allows it. Though I would still prefer not. ps. I started in vb and I am a b...

tools/methods to understand how an application runs
I have been playing with explorer_new recently, and a lot of the code I see I have no idea how the person managed to determined what was used. I have "winspector spy" which tells you what controls are used, but I still can't tell what api's are used or what parts are com/ole. I also don't ...

Re: Second chances...
This is a big step forward in the right direction. I like the explanation of the forums account being a priveledge and not a right. After all someone else has paid for a server and set up and maintained the forums. I think Artlav comment on "autism or Aspenger's " was a bit inappropriate. ...

Re: What basically do coverity scans?
I think it would be nice if the information is available. As the idea of opensource is that you can fix the software you use even if someone else does not. Plus I have seen security issues published about security flaws on other systems. I remember last year there was a publication of a glitch that ...

Re: Sinking Into Oblivion
Aeneas I think release dates just based on dates is not beneficial. We can have targets for a release which in the working world could give you a time frame when you work 8 hour days as your job. but to say to a contributor that you have to meet deadlines is ridiculous. I work 8 hour days with 3 hou...

Re: Sinking Into Oblivion
A release should happen for major changes really. Ubuntu can give 6 month release dates because they can make many changes in that time that users will benefit from. Though they still have targets and milestones for each release. They just schedule for it.(and don't forget they have paid developers ...

there may be some patents on the algorithms though api can not be covered by patents. API's can be covered by copyright laws. Though there are legal precedents which allow you to provide an identical API but not an identical implementation in code without breaching copyright. Patents potentially cou...

Re: Windows 7 Codepac
I don't think this is that relevant is it? It sounds like it is for .net accessing features with native api. Because those features can not be used through the .net api. So it is like having an ogre wrapper for java or .net(both run in a vm). I could be very wrong I really didn't have a good look at...
