Missing: an intelligent registry merge
To my feeling there is some half-working "update" scenario. Consider the scenario of installing reactos from CD onto a disk partition which has already a reactos installation on it. As far as i observed reactos installs it's files and leaves untouched everything else. The only condition is...

Who the heck would be mourning uninstallable/unfunctional IE on Reactos? Of course IE would be funny, but as long as their are other browsers, fairly better than IE8, it is not really necessary. :D And i think FF4, once rolled out in it's final version, will be better than IE9. As for MSOffice, it's...

USB keyboard or mouse
If you use an USB keyboard and/or mouse, and as long as Reactos does not yet support these devices, you should activate what is called the "legacy mode for keyboard / mouse / input devices" or similar in your BIOS. Then USB input devices should be no problem for reactos installation. With ...

1st stage install in a VM
I suggest you 1. do a 1st stage install on a virtual hdd in a VM on another PC 2. when the 1st stage install is finished and wants to reboot, you stop the VM 3. you run the VM's hdd image with a liveCD and copy it completely, or only the first partition, to a file If you use a VM software with USB c...

Vbox Guest additions un-recommanded
Hi I see the guest additions are not available now. I forgot to say it in my first post, but i had also got bad experience with the Guest additions since maybe 6 months. With the guest additions installed in Reactos 0.4trunk or 0.3.12branch, i was unable to increase the screen resolution. Reactos sy...

Hint for virtualbox: guest configs "unknown OS" works best
Hi, i have installed the virtualbox alldone image of 0.3.12 and it works flawlessly (on a linux 32bit host). It also helped me to work around some problems i got systematically when trying to install 0.3.11, 0.4trunk and 0.3.12prereleasebranch, and the final release 0.3.12 versions: Starting with vi...

Re: Install Reactos without bootloader ?
Ability to install reactos on a partition, and to do that without breaking the grub bootloader, depends on what is your current partitioning scheme. You can post here the partitioning scheme of the first harddisk, by using the unix fdisk command below, it can only be executed as root: root@zuse3:~# ...

Reactos shell32.dll immune against LNK vulnerability?
Hi,
Is reactos shell32.dll immune against the severe LNK vulnerability which Microsoft patched last Monday for any windows version newer or equal XP SP3?
Or is reactos as well endangered?
