It's a level of practicality. If I walked into the school office and said, let's switch to ReactOS(assuming I do this when ReactOS becomes more usable), the school does not want to hear "Oh, we also have to reformat all the harddrives." Same would hold true for other organizations that mig...

That suggestion again brings back Windows into the equation. I believe the objective is to make it so that the end user is completely independent of Windows. This would mean a driver that doesn't depend on things from Windows if they wanted to achieve total independence. On the other hand, if ReactO...

ReactOS can't legally distribute XP's NTFS driver. They need to get around that problem if ReactOS is intended to be something that just works, which I think it is.

Since ReactOS is targeted to Windows users, the majority of them will have NTFS harddrives. And since the objective is to ease any such transition, then it's somewhat naive to believe that they're willing to sit through a reformating of all their HDs just because ReactOS doesn't have NTFS support. T...

Still not working. The command prompt stays stuck in C:\ and I can't get into D:\ at all. When I type in D:\, it gives me a bad command or file name error. When I type in just D:, it responsds with a D:\ before jumping right back to C:\. And when I use cd with whatever address, it just jumps back to...

Gonna try this on Monday since the computer is at school and I am not coming to school on the weekends. Yeah, I'm not used to the commandline at all, though thanks for the help.

Not working. I typed in cd *DRIVELETTER*:\drivers\nic etc and such. however, it constantly told me ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND. Also, the system hangs at random times, but I'm willing to attribute it to the fact that this is a SVN version I'm running. I may wait until 0.3 stable is out, but this test is ta...

The buttons of going forward and backward and up one in the ReactOS Explorer also don't work. Again, this might be because of the fact that this was from the SVN.

Also, it's not letting me copy anything for some reason.

Install works now, though I've moved it to a different computer. However, networking does not. This is on the SVN. I'm making the assumption that the driver isn't available for this particular card yet.

Also, the computer does not shut down when told to through the start menu.

So that wiki entry about ReactOS not being able to run some things if it runs out of space because it doesn't have a swap is outdated or something?

Swap partitions

In order to install a swap partition, do I need to use a separate HD partitioner? Reading through the wiki leads me to believe that ReactOS' installer can't do it and the operating system itself does not create a swap space for itself like Windows does.

Tried both an SVN and 0.2.9 release. The SVN was 21747.

Vector is a Linux distribution. And the Freebooter never appeared. I ran into the LILO bootloader.

Except that the install did not work correctly. In fact, I got booted into the Vector Linux installed on the harddrive, which of course didn't work because of what the ReactOS installer did.

ReactOS Install hangs at the end

I finish installing ReactOS and get to the point where the computer tells me to hit enter to reboot. I walk away with the system at the point of flushing cache or whatever. However, after I come back in about an hour or so, it's still stuck there. The machine used was a 500MHz PIII Around 384 MB of ...

Hardware compatibility

Is there any list regarding hardware compatibility? Some kind of compiled list like with applications?
