If it can't be open source, the compatible driver can be pointed from the Download! application to your download web address. A GPL and so on licenses implies to free up the sources. And ReactOS is under almost GPL license. Take a look at the intellectual property policy wiki page.

I must to highlight, after reading the article's comments, the prejudices about ReactOS and free software in general (even though they say that they defend it). But, as we say in Spain, the most important is everyone talking about you, even evil.

Just for curiosity and as we are talking about the use of MSVC, I wonder if it will be possible to use MSVC Express Edition to compile sources because this version is available for free although it has no advanced tools like SEH and so on.
